We adore a wedding, especially the part where we get to sprinkle a little magic by helping our customers find their perfect pair of bridal heels or flats.
As traditions have shifted, so too have expectations around the big day. These days there's much more fun and flexibility surrounding the ceremony and reception - meaning your unique personality and style can inform all the seemingly endless wedding day decisions! From the outfit to the venue, the music, the food and the little traditions and rituals that make a wedding so personal, you want your day to be entirely and perfectly you - and your bridal shoes should be no different.
So, your wedding is approaching and you’ve found the perfect dress (or skirt, or slacks, or suit!) but how do you choose the perfect pair of shoes to match? At habbot we create unique shoes for the individual woman, so we wholeheartedly believe that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution for the ideal wedding shoe.
Heels or Flats?
In a nutshell: whatever works for you! Think about the items and shoes in your wardrobe that make you feel special and use that as a jumping off point.
If you wince at the idea of wearing heels for hours, then look for a bridal shoe that feels elevated for the importance of the occasion, but without a heel. But if you frequently wear high heels, then choose a pair that you can wear for your wedding but then also enjoy afterwards. A pair of handmade Italian leather shoes is an investment, so being able to incorporate them into your existing wardrobe long after your wedding day is worth considering!
Another element to consider is wedding venue - if you're having a park or beach wedding then stiletto heels could mean you'll be stuck in grass or slipping in sand all day long, far from ideal! Weather is another factor - a winter wedding generally calls for a closed-toe, whereas sunny days are much more suitable for sandals or strappy heels.
Traditional
If you’re wearing a more traditional gown, a timeless pump or court shoe will let your outfit shine, keeping the overall look elegant and tasteful. Before & After The Big Day
It can feel like you’ve got a million and one jobs to keep track of in the lead-up to a wedding. We can’t help with everything, but we can give you some sound shoe suggestions! Here’s what the habbot team recommends doing with your wedding shoes before and after the day.
Before
For a truly comfortable pair of shoes that will walk and dance with you all night long, we recommend wearing in your bridal shoes lightly before the day of the wedding. This will soften the leather slightly and allow the shoes to begin to mould to your foot. Breaking them in can be as easy as wearing them around the house for a couple of hours at a time.
After
Your dress might only be worn on the big day, but there’s no reason why your bridal shoes can’t become a go-to item you wear time and time again. If they need it, here's some more info on how to provide a little TLC before putting them back in the box and storing them properly for their next wear, allowing these fabulous shoes to make you look and feel great for a lifetime (just like your marriage!).
